COS-Redeemer Lutheran Church
Sermon - Maundy Thursday
Text: 1 Corinthians 11:27-30
The Lutheran Church (or at least our portion of it!) has some strict rules about Holy Communion. For example, only pastors are allowed to consecrate the bread and wine in Holy Communion and only those who have been instructed in our faith and confess that faith are able to receive the Sacrament. These rules may seem harsh or unfair, but they spring from a belief that God's Word is true and that the body and blood of Jesus are truly present under the bread and the wine. We take some time in this sermon to think about what it means to receive the Holy Communion worthily.
